The key behind a comfortable and protecting air filter mask lies in all the details that together form the whole final mask. The Metro-Mask: Urban is built around 3 foundations - protection, comfort, and design.
TESTED AND CERTIFIED FILTER TECHNOLOGY
The mask filter is essential to the protection. When you breathe through the Metro-Mask: Urban, air passes through five important layers of filter media before it reaches your lungs. Each air filter media layer has different properties to filter particles of different sizes.
1. Outside PP layer: Outside filter wrapping in a durable finish
2. Active Carbon Layer: Reduces gases and odors.
3. 1st Electro Charged Layer: Filters larger pm10 pollution, pollen and other allergens
4. 2nd Electro Charged Layer: Filters smaller pm2.5 pollution, dust and bacteria
5. Inside PP Layer: Inside filter with ultra-smooth and skin-friendly finish
The multi-layer filter technology is tested at a state of the art laboratory showing a 98% protection rate against particles down to the size of 0.3μm and 99.99% against pm2.5 pollution. The Metro-Mask: Urban is also tested and certified for international pollution mask standards, similar to the N95 mask and N95 respirator standards.

SECURE SEALING AND ANTI-FOG SYSTEM
To ensure full protection when using a breathing mask, the sealing on the face is key. Studies show that leakage commonly occurs in the nasal area when using a pollution mask.
Each filter of Metro-Mask: Urban is thereby especially designed with a nose-foam and an adjustable nose clip. There is an additional nose clip in the mask as well. These features minimize air leakage on the nasal area. The nose-foam is also important as an anti-fogging system, enabling the mask to be used when wearing glasses.
DUAL EXHALATION VALVE VENTILATION SYSTEM
The Metro-Mask: Urban is designed with two exhalation valves acting as a ventilation system, making the air pollution mask comfortable to wear. When exhaling, the two valves allow warm, moist and carbon dioxide filled air to be ventilated out of the space between the face and the mask. This would otherwise build up inside the face mask, causing discomfort. When inhaling, the valves are blocked, making sure all inhaled air travels through the mask filter.
The Metro-Mask exhalation valves are specially designed to not spread exhaled air horizontally outwards, like when you are normally exhaling. The valve cap pushes the exhaled air to the sides of the valves. This reduces the spread of exhaled air. This is a similar logic to a surgical mask that doctors or dentists wear, which do not completely seal but direct the airflow away from the patient.
ELASTIC EARLOOPS WITH HOOK FOR PERSONAL FIT
To offer a personal and comfortable fit the Metro-Mask: Urban is designed with elastic earloops. The skin-friendly and elastic material of the earloops together with the easily adjustable hook allows the user to create a tight sealing, without the need of putting too much pressure on the ears.
LONG LASTING AND REPLACEABLE FILTERS
The Metro-Mask: Urban package comes with 1 fitted filter and 2 extra replaceable filters. One Filter lasts for about 100 hours of usage, dependent on the pollution levels when used. If the levels of pollution are high, the filter will faster clog up with particles and need to be replaced. Wearing the same filter during a long time can also become unhygienic, as it is worn over the mouth and nose, thereby we recommend changing the filter every second week. The filters are easy to replace by removing it from the valves and the mask and inserting a new filter.

In our opinion, design does not need to compromise functionality. Our masks are therefore designed to last. Every mask is washable and reusable to make it stay an everyday lifestyle accessory just as long as any other item in your wardrobe. The outer layer of the mask is very easy to wash and dries quickly too.
